Boulder Loop Trail

DSC02817

Left at the crossroads.

Into the forest I go,

Hunting down ledges.

DSC02825

They were not kidding

When they said there were boulders.

I am so small here.

DSC02828

A landscape of death –

Sharp like the middle ages –

Quickens my slow pace.

DSC02833

Ames is ecstatic

After climbing the boulders.

Finally a break.

DSC02837

He said to me here

While I sat in the sunlight

“Hey – I have cancer.”

“Will you take my picture?

I’m not supposed to be here.”

“Yes” I said to him.

Misunderstanding,

I laughed at his words, and smiled.

“We’ll keep it a secret.”

DSC02839

Now I have a secret

And the best place to keep it

Is inside these rocks.
